Tamaree Rail Disaster

Six people were killed in a train accident at Tamaree on Saturday 18 October, 1947. The south bound Rockhampton to Brisbane train was waiting for the Townsville train to pass on loop when instead the north bound train collided head on with it.

The accident made news nationwide as at the time it was one of the worst rail accidents in Australia.
