A livestock symposium was conducted by Gerrard and Sullivan at the Spring Valley Research Centre on Saturday 15 November 1969. Approximately 600 people attended the symposium, some from as far as Rockhampton. According to the Gympie Times, Mr Ted Fisher (a local veterinarian) was “the scientific brain” behind the centre.
