White hats, white gloves and a new outfit was all the go for well dressed ladies at the Gympie Show in 1969. The video we have is 9 minutes of the exhibits, the show ring and of course the show girls.

Who doesn’t love going to a country show? It was the time to get a new dress and meet up with people you haven’t seen in a long time. It was also the time to check out all the new innovations in the farming and automotive worlds – just to name a couple.
Leading up to the 1969 Gympie Show the Gympie Times printed several articles about the upcoming event. Read them below.





People came from far and wide to visit the events and exhibits.




Shows always had the latest car models for you to look over. Mr Jocumsen came forward and game us some information about Madills.


License plat PKK 151 was purchased by Mr Keys of Gympie, the other car was a Madill’s demo car

George Sutherland and Co (Tractors, Ford Dealer – was on Reef St, where Drakes is now)
There was always so much to see and do….






You could always get a bargain or two at Show Time
